That is what we aspire to! Malaga and its province have the necessary conditions (and many more) to turn into (O BECOME) the perfect congress destination. Numbers prove it: according to the Convention Bureau, in the last year there has been an increase of 30% in the number of international candidacies that aspire to hold a congress in Malaga. Simultaneously, the visits of people in charge of companies, agencies and associations interested are also increasing.
The segment of congresses, conventions and incentives (our beloved MICE) is also growing. By the end of this year the number of participants in congresses celebrated in the city could grow around 10%.
The good news is that our province is more than prepared. Besides specialized agencies (like ours) there are numerous venues intended for all kinds of events and for congresses especially. Hotels are a great option but we’ll talk about them in another post. Here you have a guide with the five most important Palaces of Fairs and Congress Halls:
Palace of Fairs and Congresses of Malaga (FYCMA)
Inaugurated in 2003, it has turned into one of the architectural emblems of the city due to its ultramodern design. During these 14 years, the Palace has experienced an intense and successful activity destined to turn the city of Malaga into the center of business of Andalusia.
The building has 17.000 m2 of exhibition distributed in two pavilions with technological equipment that make it adapted for all kind of events: congresses, conventions, meetings, courses, seminars, forums, press conferences, exhibitions, presentations, etc. It has two auditoriums, conference rooms (two of them with 500 square meters), 18 meeting rooms, a restaurant and a parking for 1.000 vehicles. But above all, it is very well communicated with the city and near to all Malaga’s points of interest. The perfect venue!
Costa del Sol Conferences and Exhibitions Hall
Recently renewed, this building is in Torremolinos, a city 17 km away from Malaga and only 4 km from the International Airport Pablo Picasso. It is used principally for fairs and exhibitions, but its singular disposition in two plants (FLOORS) with capacity for up to 2.000 people (each) also hosts gala dinners, shows and big celebrations. It provides meeting rooms with translation cabins, screens, presidential tables, VIP lounges… The most accessible location!
Marbella’s Conference Hall and Exhibitions ‘Adolfo Suarez’
Its modern infrastructure is specifically designed to shelter congresses, conventions, product launches, exhibitions and all kind of meetings at a national and international level. With more than 10.000 m2 of surface it has, under the same ceiling, an auditorium, several meeting rooms, a restoration area and a pavilion for exhibitions. The possibility of offering two big areas in the same building and the privileged situation in the downtown of Marbella – the Mediterranean Pearl – are their principal attractions. A specially indicated venue if the congress has also an incentive dimension.
Ronda’s Conference Hall
Its major value is the place where it is located: the former Convent of Santo Domingo, a five hundred years building constructed by the Catholic Kings and rehabilitated specially to give a quality service to the current needs of small and medium size meetings (maximum 200 persons). It is perfectly equipped to adapt to any type of medium event. In addition to this, the proximity to the Tajo – the emblem of Ronda – and the city center make it the best choice to give a special touch to any congress.
Estepona’s Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses
Ten minutes away from Marbella, this building of 21.000 m2 has a great pavilion and a conference room, both of great capacity: the pavilion has 2.000 m2 and can host 1.600 persons. The conference room, located on the first floor, has capacity for 100 people. The multiple possibilities of subdivision of the pavilion allow hosting, simultaneously, other complementary services. But probably the most interesting incentive is the proximity to the beach just 300 meters away … What more could you ask for?
